Want to send me a gift but you don’t know what I like? No, I’m just kidding. This list is less about me but meant more as an inspiration for you, provided of course that your loved ones are just as quirky/boring as me (warm PJ’s and dragons, anyone? That’s me). If you’re looking for simple but meaningful last-minute Christmas gifts, I would never refuse the following ones.
I am not a coffee drinker but I do consume tea in noticeable quantities. I don’t discriminate much when it comes to tea: black, green, red, white or golden are all fine with me. They all have their uses and I’ll drink them all.
- Chocolate or pralines
You know the saying “Never trust someone who doesn’t like chocolate?” Well, you can trust me. Because I like, no, I love chocolate. And pralines. Send both, preferably. Make it good quality though. Thanks! Also, drinking chocolate is more than a perfectly acceptable present for all occasions. I like the one from Wedel but others, like Callebaut will work brilliantly as well!
- Bolesławiec pottery
To make sipping tea an even more pleasurable experience, a good mug is required. I love myself some tea mugs from Bolesławiec pottery factory. Not only does it give me a feeling of home but they’re also so damn pretty.
Marzipan is also a sweet but listed separately here, just because I feel like it. Preferably from Niederegger.
You already know about my obsession with earrings. I don’t mind, send over some more. Especially if they were bought in a country I haven’t been to. I probably won’t be able to wear them but they’ll make a fabulous addition to my collection.
Books! Books! Books! I like books like a zombie likes brains. Probably even more. I’ll never refuse a good book and I read everything: both fiction and non-fiction. And if you’re an author, I’ll love you forever (but don’t send me your book, I’ll buy my own).
Sękacz is a Polish cake, similar to the German Baumkuchen. It’s impossible to find abroad and very hard to make from scratch (although Sasha’s Baumkuchen comes close). It requires a grill and a rolling pin hanging over the fire and you pour the batter over the fire so that it sticks to the rolling pin. After a few layers, it becomes thick as a little tree trunk and mouth-wateringly delicious. And now that I can’t have it, I desire it, so please send some over.
My mom has a noticeable collection of scarves and I think I took after her in the scarf department. I just love the feeling of wearing something around my neck. Scarves can come in any color, and size. It doesn’t really matter. I’ll figure out how to wear it. Currently, my favorite is a big one that I can wrap around myself in multiple ways.
- Soft PJ’s and socks
There is no better gift than soft, comfortable pyjamas and socks to go with them. It’s the truth. Because comfy PJ’s make for warmth and good sleep and warmth and good sleep make for happiness. Therefore, comfy PJ’s equal happiness. Simple and effective. And wonderful.
Dragons are my favorite animals. This may be a long shot given that they don’t exist but if you have one of them wandering around in your garden, and you want to get rid of it for some reason, I’ll be happy to take it in. Really. Dragons eggs are also appreciated although if you know me you also know that I’m not very good at nurturing creatures that can’t tell me they’re hungry. So if you have an egg, wait for it to hatch and then send it over. Alternatively, a few cute little dragons to add to my dragon collection (yes, I have a dragon collection) will do. I’d appreciate it very much indeed.
Again, this list was meant as a way to provide gift ideas if you still need them. And it’s also a way for you to get to know me better. What gifts would you never refuse? Tell me in the comments!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
